Warren Charles Johnson III, MD, FAAP

The child of a dentist and a social worker, science and the desire to help others intertwined and expressed themselves when Dr. Johnson was  young.  The desire to be a physician was born during these early years, and  was re-awakened at age 18 after a powerfully transformative experience. Dr. Johnson then felt the call to go into pediatric medicine, with the goal to optimize the socioemotional health as well as the physical health of children.

Dr. Johnson attended the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 1993, where the biopsychosocial model of medicine was taught (as opposed to the traditional medical model).  After completing his pediatric residency at Hurley Medical Center in Flint Michigan in 2000, Dr. Johnson took his first job as an attending physician at a Kansas City community health center and became the chair of pediatrics. The pediatric program then received a 1.5 million dollar grant to improve early childhood care, and Dr. Johnson implemented an early childhood development program called Healthy Steps. The positive impact this program had on Dr. Johnson's patients and his philosophy of medicine can not be overstated.

Urgent Care and Emergency Medicine have played a major role in Dr. Johnson's career, but his passion lies in primary care pediatrics. Other topics of particular interest to Dr. Johnson include breastfeeding, environmental health, mental health, and natural remedies. Additionally,  Dr. Johnson has a short term goal of becoming certified in pediatric integrative medicine.
